Brooklyn Nine-Nine remains one of the most talked-about television shows today (despite ending its run in 2021), and the sitcom is a perfect blend of comedy with heartfelt moments.
Updated, January 2024: On December 11th, Brooklyn 99 star Andre Braugher (Captain Raymond Holt) died after a short illness, and the cast of the show and its devoted fanbase poured out tributes to the beloved actor.
On January 16th, Braugher's Brooklyn 99 co-star Terry Crews (Sgt. Terry Jeffords) spoke to TV Insider about Braugher, and how hard it was for Crews to come to terms with his passing.
Crews described Braugher as a "Julliard-trained amazing superstar," and praised his ability to rapidly switch from intense drama to side-splitting comedic scenes.
Crews also admitted that he (like us) had been holding out for another Brooklyn 99 project to come to pass, and he lamented:
"Man, what you’ve gotta understand is that Andre Braugher, he’s like my big brother ... [learning of his death] was one of the most hard-hitting pieces of news that I’ve ever gotten in my entire life.
"I was always hoping we could do a movie, always hoping we could get back together ... I want to just make him proud nonstop."

Andre Braugher stole hearts from Baltimore to Brooklyn - cracking cases and jokes, and proving that gravitas and giggles are a winning combo.Brooklyn 99's Dan Goor and Michael Schur are the creators and executives for several similarly acclaimed and adored sitcoms, such as The Office, Parks And Recreation, and The Good Place.
In 2013, the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine aired on NBC. The world met Brooklyn’s boisterous 99th precinct (also known as "Nine-Nine!") as the squad adjusted to their new Commanding Officer, Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher).
Brooklyn Nine-Nine would go on to air for eight seasons in total, concluding its final season in September 2021.
The biggest driving factor behind the comedy ensemble's success has always been the eccentric characters and how they relate to the viewers beyond television. Each character has a unique style and personality, playing out in conflict and comedy as they solve crime in New York City – and participate in the occasional heist.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast has earned a lot of love from fans around the world, and the producers made sure that they were paid well to retain the magical chemistry behind the sitcom's dominance.
Let's look back at how much the cast members of Brooklyn Nine-Nine made per episode.
Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta)
SNL alum Andy Samberg served as the comedic force driving the show forward, and provided a focal character while fans became acquainted with the squad.
Samberg portrayed the lead character, Detective Jake Peralta, a quirky and slightly immature detective who eventually matures as the show progresses (to a point).
Samberg was the highest-paid cast member and earned $125,000 per episode, and served as a producer on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
With several movies under his belt in 2024, Andy Samberg's net worth is estimated at between $20 million and $25 million.
Andre Braugher (Raymond Holt)
After appearing in notable police procedurals like Homicide: Life On The Street, Andre Braugher led the unruly squad as Captain Raymond Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Captain Holt is hard-working, stoic, and committed to his career. Braugher’s character – a pioneering Black detective who is openly gay –became a powerful symbol among fans of the show.
Andre Braugher earned $100,000 per episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine:
At the time of his death, his net worth was estimated at around $8 million.

Melissa Fumero became well-known after she landed the role of Amy Santiago on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Fumero's Amy Santiago was introduced to the audience as an ambitious police detective, who eventually earned the rank of Sergeant.
Amy is known on the show for her love of binders and her obsession for organization, and Santiago proved to be an unlikely but perfect match for Jake Peralta. After several seasons of Nine-Nine antics, Detectives Santiago and Peralta married.
Melissa Fumero's Brooklyn Nine-Nine salary remains undisclosed. However, Fumero's net worth is estimated to stand at between $2 million and $4 million.
Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle)
Jake’s best friend, a gifted chef, food blogger, and police detective, Joe Lo Truglio’s Charles Boyle, is perhaps the most underrated and enjoyable character on the show.
His friendship with Jake – intertwined with the vagaries of Boyle's social life and his uniquely close-knit family – is intriguing and hilarious to watch.
Joe Lo Truglio's Brooklyn Nine-Nine salary was upwards of $80,000 per episode; Lo Truglio has worked on several movies and TV shows (including MTV's The State), and his net worth is estimated to be $5 million.

On the 25th anniversary of its premiere, let's look back at The Sopranos' cast, and their current net worths.Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz)
Stephanie Beatriz’s Detective Rosa Diaz is an iconic presence on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Beatriz's Rosa is loyal, fierce, and unflinching in the face of danger – as was hilariously demonstrated after Diaz casually offered Captain Holt unsolicited advice on his marriage to husband Kevin Cozner (Marc Evan Jackson):
Against the backdrop of real world events in 2020 and 2021 and in acknowledgement of contemporaneous discussions about policing, Diaz retired from the force in the final season to become a private investigator, and to help victims of police brutality.
As a commonly "scary and intense" detective, Diaz went through significant transitions on the show.
While Beatriz's Brooklyn Nine-Nine salary remains undisclosed, the star has built a reported net worth of $2 million from her work on several projects.
In June 2020 (at the height of ongoing protests following the murder of George Floyd), Stephanie Beatriz donated $11,000 to the National Bail Fund Network – and specifically called on other actors who portrayed police officers to do the same.
Beatriz tweeted:
Terry Crews (Sgt. Terry Jeffords)
Terry Crews' Brooklyn Nine-Nine character – the family-centered, yogurt-obsessed, and exercise-focused Terry Jeffords – is a close friend to all on the squad, and originator of their "Nine-Nine!" rallying cry.
Jeffords was literally gun-shy in the first season, having eschewed active duty following the birth of his twin daughters (Cagney and Lacey).
By the sixth season, Terry had taken and aced his lieutenant's exam, using the specter of it to his advantage for a double-cross twist in one of the show's many heist episodes:
Terry Crews' Brooklyn Nine-Nine salary was reportedly over $80,000 per episode, and as of 2024, his net worth is estimated at around $25 million.

Chelsea Peretti’s Gina Linetti is perhaps the most iconic character on the show, and originator of the line "Gina Linetti Spaghetti Confetti."
Peretti-as-Linetti's quick wit and daring personality made her an instant hit with fans of the show, serving as the squad's only civilian.
While Peretti was "abruptly written out" of Brooklyn Nine-Nine midway through season six for "mysterious" reasons, she appeared in episodes in the seventh and eighth seasons.
Chelsea Peretti's net worth is estimated at $25 million in 2024, and while her salary remains undisclosed, it was estimated to be on par with Andre Braugher's.
Dirk Blocker (Michael Hitchcock)
Detective Michael Hitchcock, portrayed by Dirk Blocker, is one of a pair of "lazy" detectives at the precinct, along with his constant companion, Norm Scully.
Hitchcock technically retires during the show's eighth season, but makes several appearances via Scully's iPad and FaceTime.
Blocker was billed as a recurring cast member during the first six seasons, but became a series regular after Peretti left the show.
His Brooklyn Nine-Nine salary was not officially disclosed; as of 2024, Dirk Blocker's net worth is estimated to be $4 million.
Joel McKinnon Miller (Norm Scully)
In addition to being another "lazy detective," Joel McKinnon Miller’s Norm Scully is best known for his long-lasting friendship with Hitchcock, and for his array of unusual and off-putting medical conditions.
Joel McKinnon Miller's Brooklyn Nine-Nine salary was reportedly a little less than $80,000 per episode. He was also promoted to the main cast after Peretti left Brooklyn Nine-Nine in the show's sixth season.
Miller's net worth has been estimated at $3 million in 2024 – likely an underestimate considering his work on several other big projects, like HBO's Big Love.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine said its final farewell in September 2021, but fans have not lost interest in the show, all eight seasons of which are available to stream on the platform Peacock.
